Our team

The people who will know your name.

Classes here are small on purpose. Our instructors learn how you move and what you are working on, and we have a licensed physical therapist on staff for anything that needs one-on-one attention.

Joan

Owner and instructor

“Can you bend over, squat, pick up a heavy box, and put it on the shelf in a safe way?”

Joan owns Studio 8 and teaches here most weeks. Her approach is practical rather than trend-driven: she wants you moving well in your everyday life, not chasing an aesthetic or an intensity level. If you are new and unsure where to start, she is usually the person who will help you pick a class.

Britney Hegy, PT

Physical therapist, Room 106

“Recovery is part of performance, not a break from it.”

Britney is our on-staff licensed physical therapist and sees private clients in Room 106. She works with adult athletes in pickleball, tennis, and golf, and with people rehabbing from injury or surgery who want sport-specific care rather than generic therapy. Sessions are by appointment.

Our yoga instructors

Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hot Yoga, Kids Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation

“You’ll be known by name by the second class.”

Our group classes stay small enough that instructors learn how each student moves and what they are working on. Expect options for every posture, plain explanations, and no pressure to keep up with anyone else in the room. Full instructor bios and class times are listed with each class in the schedule.

Our Pilates instructors

Mat Pilates, Reformer, Pilates Chair

“Three clients max on the reformer, so you actually get taught.”

Mat Pilates classes are built around the six principles: breath, concentration, control, precision, centering, and flow. Reformer and Pilates chair sessions run as a circuit with a maximum of three clients, by appointment, so there is real instruction rather than a crowded room.

We hire slowly. If you teach the way we teach, plainly and with real attention to the person in front of you, send us a note.
